Florida Mortgage Loan Originator 2011 Continuing Education Course
FL mortgage loan originators are required to take 8 hours of continuing education by December 31 of each year. On an annual basis, the SAFE Act calls for Florida state-licensed MLOs to complete:
- 3 hours of Federal law and regulations
- 2 hours of ethics including lessons on fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending problems
- 2 hours of lessons associated with lending standards for the nontraditional mortgage product market
- 1 hour of instruction in an undefined topic
The Florida MLO Continuing Education Course is presented in partnership with the Association of Mortgage Educators. Both Bert Rodgers Schools and the Association of Mortgage Educators are approved NMLS providers.

Online Instructor-Led Pre-License Education Course
The 20 Hour SAFE Comprehensive Principles of Mortgage Lending Course is designed to allow students the convenience of studying at home or office, while having the opportunity to communicate with an instructor and other students who are progressing through the course at the same time.
The course includes the following features:
- a start date and an end date, but still allows you to study at your convenience
- Lessons are divided in topic order, as recommended by the NMLS
- Interactive exercises, message boards, and audio/visual lesson
- Each lesson must be completed before proceeding to the next lesson
- All quizzes and exercises must be completed before taking the final exam
- You must pass a final exam with a score of 70% or better
The 20-Hour Pre-License Course is presented in partnership with Cape School. Both Bert Rodgers Schools and Cape School are approved NMLS providers.

Online MLO Test Prep Courses and Publications
The Florida Mortgage Law Exam Preparation Online course is:
- Based on The Florida Mortgage Law Study Guide Textbook.
- It is designed to meet the FL state specific criteria established by the SAFE Act for national mortgage loan originators needing to take the FL State test with NMLS.
The Mortgage Law Test Preparation Online course is:
- Based on The Principles of Mortgage Lending textbook
- reviews the core pre-license educational requirements for mortgage loan originators as defined by the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act)
- an Test preparation tool only and is not for credit
- The prep tool is designed to provide a strong understanding of the mortgage loan originator industry and the laws that govern it
